With over $16,000 of Hard-Earned money to spend, our PTO prayed, discussed, and voted on several important projects at their January 27th meeting. They included: $9,000 allocated for driveway repair, $4,000 for billboard advertising (look for these around town in March and April), and $500 for a new Eagle Christian Service Hall of Fame Scholarship Award for a graduating senior, and $200 to each teacher ($2900 total) for classroom/school equipment.

Our PTO works very hard to promote and assist our school and faculty. Most of the income comes from long hours spent at the U.K. football concession stand. In addition to the projects they voted to fund, our PTO also helps to sponsor many other school functions including: Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, Science Fair, Field Day, and March and August Open Houses.

Kroger/Meijer Rewards

BGBS PTO coordinates our Kroger/Meijer programs. Both stores have recently introduced different ways to acquire their donations.

Kroger has gone to gift cards now, instead of gift certificates. These $5 gift cards are initially purchased from our office for that amount. When shopping at Kroger, before your groceries are rung up, just add any amount to your gift card. At the end of your checkout, pay with your gift card. The receipt the cashier hands you will show any balance left on your card. Those who have already started using this new system praise it as much easier than the hassle of the old gift certificate program.

Meijer has gone to a totally different method. There are forms in the office that are easily filled out and sent to Meijer. Within a couple of weeks you receive a card that you show at the time of any Meijer purchase. BGBS will get credited with a percentage of your purchases. How easy! If you shop at Kroger or Meijer, please make a point to participate in these programs. It's "free money" for our school!

PTO Projects

Just recently the PTO used some of their earnings to purchase a new privacy fence to go along the back of the school property. Also, $1,000 was designated to help with the setup of Advanced Placement classes for our high school in the spring semester.

Join the PTO!

If you have not been active in our school's activities, the PTO is a good place to begin. The meetings are usually short and to the point; parents and teachers working together to accomplish so much! What a difference we can make!
